Mooseheart received a donation of 3,200 pounds of hand sanitizer on Thursday (Aug. 13), thanks to efforts of Moose members from Missouri and a company which wishes to remain anonymous.
Tom White, the Administrator of Lexington, MO Lodge 1161 and the Secretary of MoKan Moose Legion 4 and Jeff Tackett, a member of Branson, MO Lodge 2692, the President of MoKan Moose Legion 4 and Missouri’s Mooseheart/Moosehaven Committee Chairman made the donation. Also instrumental in the donation was Robert Martin, the Lexington, MO Lodge 1161 Treasurer, who works for the anonymous company and made the connection between his company and the Moose.
Mooseheart Executive Director Gary Urwiler accepted the donation along with Residential Directors Pete and Alice Daneels.
“With the pandemic, any supplies you can have donated is a great benefit. Having the wide variety of types of hand sanitizer they delivered with this donation, is a real blessing. It came at a good time because we’re still in the midst of the pandemic and we will use this to our benefit,” Urwiler said.
White and Tackett said they have a further large donation to give to the Lexington, MO school district and they plan a donation to Moosehaven, in Orange Park, FL as well.
“Beyond the donation and the benefits we get from having hand sanitizer for our campus, there is another blessing involved with this,” Urwiler said. “It’s another opportunity to get our name and what we do and what our mission is to someone else. We want to have as many opportunities to get the name of the Moose and Mooseheart and what we do to as many people as we can.”
