MOOSEHEART, IL, June 14 -- Fans of Mooseheart's football team will have four opportunities to see the Red Ramblers in action in their newly-remodeled home this fall.

As Mooseheart prepares for its second season in the Northeastern Athletic Conference (NAC), they do so knowing a $3 million renovation will significantly improve the look and feel of the stadium that the Ramblers have called home since 1940. Among the key changes will be the surface, where modern artificial athletic turf is to replace the natural-grass gridiron that Mooseheart teams had played on since the days of Coach Ben Oswalt in the early 1920s; and locker rooms, where the home team especially will enjoy a big upgrade.  Construction, which is ongoing, is to be completed in time for the Ramblers' home-opening game.

That contest, which will be accompanied by dedication ceremonies, takes place Saturday, Sept. 11 with a 1 p.m. kickoff against North Shore Country Day. This season is the 11th in which Gary Urwiler has coached the Ramblers. During that time, the team has qualified for the IHSA postseason on five occasions. Urwiler is 47-47 as Ramblers coach.

The second home game is just six days after the home opener -- Friday evening, Sept. 17 against Rockford Christian. The team's third home game is its annual homecoming contest and is set for Saturday, Oct. 2. The 1:30 p.m. game, this year scheduled against rival Alden-Hebron, is the capstone to a day when a number of Moose organizations from around the continent visit the campus that their membership supports.

The final regular-season home game is Friday evening, Oct. 22 against CICS Longwood.

Mooseheart's volleyball team opens its third season under the direction of Kristin Shuman with a road match at Elgin Academy on Aug. 24.

The 2010 Ramblers volleyball schedule features 18 dates, culminating in the NAC tournament on Oct. 23. Of these, nine matches will be contested in the school's Fieldhouse -- which is getting a facelift just like the adjacent football stadium.

The volleyball home opener is Sept. 3 against North Shore Country Day. Senior Night festivities will take place prior to the Oct. 19 match with Indian Creek.
