"Terrific Tuesdays" made a triumphant return
to Mooseheart School on Tuesday, May 5, with three
new guests reading books to the school's elementary
school students.
Terrific Tuesdays are the brainchild of Mooseheart
School Reading Specialist Cara Schuster; the program
provides one of a number of ways in which Mooseheart's
students are being encouraged to develop a love of
reading and books. |

The first guest was Moose member and Pilgrim
Tom Webb, who read "The No-Good, Do-Good Pirates." Webb
came properly attired, complete with an eye patch and a
parrot, which wouldn't stay on his arm. The book Webb read
concerned a group of pirates who attempted to do good things
but found their attempts thwarted at every attempt before
succeeding in the end. The students sat attentively through
each of the three reader's stories.

The second reader was Mooseheart Director
of Admissions and Recruiting Kyle Rife, who read "Caps
for Sale," the story of a man who carries all the
caps he sells, but who falls asleep and has some trouble
with some mischievous monkeys.

Rife had some help from four students,
who portrayed the monkeys. The student-monkeys are, from
left, David Serrano, Shannon Johnson, Ariel Henderson and
Krystal Rodriguez.

At the end of the story, the man who sells
caps gets them all back on his head, and Rife stacked the
student-monkey's hats onto his own head, under the watchful
eye of Ariel Henderson.

The final reader was Director General/CEO
William B. Airey. Airey was called on to narrate "The
Three Little Dinosaurs," an updated and interesting
look at the classic "Three Little Pigs" fairy
tale. Airey was assisted in his reading by four older Mooseheart
students, who acted the parts as he read. From left, the
student-dinosaurs are Abe Mazon, Noel Yarngo, Joy Ranum
and Colton Bullock. |
