MOOSEHEART - The goal was to get out early and get a big lead on Hope Academy - and Mooseheart's girls basketball team achieved that with consummate east on Thursday, Dec. 4.

The Ramblers wore their just-arrived new uniforms and outscored Hope 18-2 in that first quarter and were never in danger of losing a contest they eventually won 72-23.

"One thing we mentioned before the game started was that we wanted the game to be over at halftime and then to really work on our consistency," Mooseheart coach Bryan Miller said. "We did a really good job being consistent in the second half."

Mooseheart's high-scoring sophomore tandem of Katie Stryker and Santana Sanchez again keyed the offense. Stryker scored 25 points while Sanchez added 22.

"In a game like this, being consistent, being fundamental and staying focused are things you have to really hone in on," Miller said. "Consistency can win you basketball games."

Mooseheart (4-2) got back into the win column after losing its last two contests of the Elgin Academy Tournament.

"It was a tough tournament for us," Miller said. "This kind of gets us back onto the right track, gets our blood flowing and gets the fundamentals going again. It's a step in the right direction."
