Homecoming is always a special day at Mooseheart. Not only do graduates from Child City return to the campus where they lived and went to school, but large numbers of Moose members ``come home`` to visit the campus their membership supports.
The weather cooperated on Oct. 14 and Mooseheart's 2006 Homecoming was a success.
The day started with an early-morning organ concert by 1977 Mooseheart graduate Diana York through the Red Ramblers football victory over Brookfield Academy.
The organ concert was a benefit to raise funds for needed repairs to make the House of God organ playable again.
The campus was decked out in anticipation of Homecoming weekend. This year's lawn decorations showed how much time and effort students put into showing school spirit.
Homecoming coincided with the annual days for the Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Iowa-E. Nebraska Moose Associations to visit Mooseheart and each of the three associations enjoyed time getting reacquainted with the campus while also giving the chance to bring checks, gifts and baked goodies for Child City residents.
The focal point of the day, as always, was the football game. Mooseheart earned a stirring 18-17 victory, a win that qualified the Red Ramblers for the playoffs for the first time since 1997.

The Child City campus took on a festive atmosphere in the days leading to Homecoming weekend. The Maryland, Delaware and District of Columbia residence hall included a mock graveyard for the Red Ramblers opponent, the Blue Knights of Brookfield Academy. The same residence hall also decorated an SUV to look like a moose.

The New York residence hall stayed with a more traditional way to portray the school's Homecoming slogan: "Bray the Blue Knights."

Hart received checks from association President Ron Wanamaker (black jacket) while association Regional Manager Dave Meyer looked on. |

Attention next turned to the North Carolina residence hall, where Mooseheart seventh-grader Bobbie Buccholz sat behind a computer donated by members of the North Carolina Moose Association. Association president Stephen Hyde (left) and Secretary Alvin Stroud, Jr. made the presentation.

Mooseheart fullback Stephen Pinto had a busy day. He gained over 100 yards running the football and was instrumental in the team's victory.

Pinto was also named the Homecoming King. The Homecoming Queen, receiving her tiara, was Jasmin Barnes. |

Mooseheart Executive Director Scott Hart was involved in halftime festivities as well. His name was tops on a voting list in a contest to have a Child City administrator kiss a pig. Hart garnered the most votes and puckered up for "Big Momma."
