MOOSEHEART CHILD CITY & SCHOOL is a community and school for children and teens in need, located on a 1,000-acre campus, 38 miles west of Chicago.  Over its 97-year history, Mooseheart has been home to nearly 12,000 young people, ranging in age from infancy through high school.

Mooseheart provides complete home care, education and training for youth whose families are unable, for a wide variety of reasons, to care for them. Some have lost one or both parents; others are living in environments that are simply not conducive to healthy growth and development.

Founded in 1913 by the Moose fraternal organization, Mooseheart is supported completely through private donations -- the great majority of which continue to come from the 1.1 million men and women of the Moose fraternal organization, in more than 1,700 Lodges and 1,600 Chapters located throughout the U.S. , Canada , Great Britain and Bermuda. Moose International headquarters is located on the Mooseheart campus.

Children and teens live in one of approximately 30 residences, each designed like a spacious single-family residence. Each is home for six to twelve children. The heart of the program is our trained Family Teachers -- in-home caregivers who provide a consistent, systematic method of care, with emphasis on social-skills development; skills essential for success in later life.

It is Mooseheart's policy to admit qualified children who have a need. The Admissions Committee considers all applications of children in need.

We invite you to look over our website and if we can be of assistance to you or someone you know, please contact the Admissions Office

Effective January 1, 2008, the Smoke-Free Illinois Act requires Mooseheart to prohibit smoking--which includes the mere holding of any lit cigarette, cigar or pipe--at all times, inside any Mooseheart campus structure (including the Moose International headquarters building), or within 15 feet of any door or window of such structure. Smoking will also be prohibited in all concourse and spectator seating areas of Illinois Memorial Stadium on the Mooseheart campus. Mooseheart staff will enforce this State of Illinois statute fully.

For the information of visiting Moose members, this statute also applies to all Moose Centers within the State of Illinois.
