Mooseheart School began its 100th year of operation on Monday, Aug. 20 -- marking that milestone some 99 years after beginning classes in August of 1913, with just a few new textbooks, more second-hand, and with social-studies teachers "making do" by reading out of the daily newspapers much of the time.
And while it didn't graduate its first high school class into the world until 1919, Mooseheart's Class of 2013 will nonetheless celebrate its first 100 years of academics on the Child City campus on Commencement Day -- Saturday, May 25, 2013 -- with the Class of 2013 Honorary Member Program.
Anyone to whom Mooseheart is important -- members of the Loyal Order of Moose and Women of the Moose, of course, but also family and friends of 2013 graduates, and residents of communities in close proximity to Mooseheart -- are invited to become an Honorary Member of the Mooseheart Class of 2013!
To "enroll," simply complete and send the form accompanying this message!
You can enroll as an "Honor Student" for just a $10 donation. In return, immediately after Commencement next May 25, you'll receive a commemorative lapel pin in coppertone, a Mooseheart Class of 2013 personalized wallet ID card, and an Honorary Mooseheart High School Class of 2013 diploma.

All "Commencement Packs" for Honorary Members of the Class of 2013 will be mailed to designated individuals (either donors, or those designated by donors) in early June, following the May 25, 2013 Commencement ceremonies. For honorary Valedictorians, yearbooks will be shipped in the fall of 2013.
All proceeds from this program will be directed solely toward the planned $10 million reconstruction/expansion of Mooseheart School. The existing 77,000-sq.-ft. school building, dating from 1954, will be fully renovated, with expansion to 92,000 sq. ft. -- providing new classrooms, new facilities for the NJROTC program, a multipurpose auditorium/gymnasium, and new offices.
"We have a 58-year-old building with asbestos-tiled hallways, energy-inefficient windows, and original plumbing and heating," said Mooseheart Executive Director Scott Hart, noting that much of the building is not air-conditioned. "Our goal is to transform the school -- much as we have done with the lives of countless children . . . participants in the Class of 2013 Honorary Member program will help enable us to do so."
